Courtney, my bestest friend, my ally in life, my constant, my foodie adventure +1, my friend for more than half my life. 

There are so many memories it is hard to narrow it all down. From high-school hangouts, crazy car rides (reversing in the middle of the street), to college visits to each other weither it be for the day or overnight, to the many resturants we visited, the sams club runs, diet coke hangouts, overnight stay cations downtown with pizza and donuts. Me coming and staying with you just because. 

To more recently the Instagram foodie account we both suck at updating, the many trips, the times you helped me when I needed it you where always there. 
Your light will continue on with all of us who you have touched by being in our lives. You were always genuinely you and we all loved you for it. I will make sure my kids grow up just like that, genuinely themselves with no regrets. 

My friend you were a blessing to me as a friend and I am heartbroken, saddened and still at a loss that you are not here with us. I will however make sure I take the trips, go to the resturants, try all the things I have wanted to because I know you would push me to do it. I am ending this with the last thing we said to each other in person "I LOVE YOU FRIEND" and I do and always will!

Courtney, you were the most joyful and full of life person I knew. You were one of those people that everyone looks up to because while a lot of us dream of how we will live life “one day” you were making the most of every day and it was so evident. You made the most of every opportunity to go on that trip, do the experience, make a friend, live big, and love with everything you have. Sitting next to you at dinner on Christmas eve I had no idea it would be the last time. The last christmas you’d light up the room when you’d walk in coming from one celebration on in to the next. The last time Brielle would be delighted by the gifts you selected for her. You were such a gift to our family. You will be missed deeply. 

I remember when you came to Alabama on one of your adventures and stopped by to have dinner with me when I was in college. It was so fun to catch up and get to share Birmingham with you the first time and then again at our wedding. I remember when I was even younger and we went shopping in Chicago together. My parents aren’t very good shoppers. Little did I know I had never been shopping with a “good shopper.” It was an eye opening and exhausting experience (in the best way), and I had so much fun following my older cousin around the big city all day. 

Someone said you are dancing down the streets of heaven with sneakers on and diet coke in hand. I love that image in my mind. I can see the smile on your face and bounce in your step, the warmth and joy you radiate. You are sparkling. 

Courtney, you’re too young and too full of life for that spark to be put out. I miss you. Life is too quiet without you here. I love you. Say hi to Grandma for me.

My favorite memories of Courtney is when my mom couldn't pick me up from school and she would. I would try to get into the back seat and she would yell " I'm not an uber!" But when she dropped me off at home she would always say "Your Uber has arrived!" 

They were always short trips but they were filled with laughter, singing and chatting about life! 

Courtney, you will be very missed and I will make sure to be there for my mom when she has those moments of sadness without you!

What can be said that hasn’t already been  written about Courtney.? She has left her handprint  on the hearts of anyone she met. 
I got to know her  during  the  past few years when we would join Nanette in St. Louis   on many adventures which included concerts, wine tastings, museums, the Blues games and of course  food was always involved!  
Courtney had a way with words! I enjoyed her stories  and wisdom. 
She would want us all to remember  the great times we shared with her and how she made us feel.  
May our memories of Courtney keep her alive in our hearts. ❤️

We will dearly miss your beautiful daughter Courtney. Her lovely smile truly lit up the room and her laughter was infectious. She had such a happy and joyful attitude; she was a true  pleasure to be around. We feel so privileged to have known her and to be included in many of your family gatherings. She always responded to memes I sent her on Instagram, which became a wonderful way for us to connect each day. She always looked for videos or photos of animals, especially dogs, doing cute and hilarious things to send me. I will sorely miss receiving messages from her. Wedding shenanigans.  I always looked forward to hanging out at family events.

Courtney was rare in that she was completely and genuinely herself. She had no concerns with impressing people- she just wanted to be happy and laugh with people. It’s very rare and so appreciated. 

The night I met Courtney, we saw the movie “Pitch Perfect” with Anna and AMC had just gotten the “freestyle” Coca-Cola machine. Courtney gets her Diet Coke, tastes it, and says “…I want one of these in my house. But only with Diet Coke.”
I thought she was joking and laughed until I realized that she was completely serious! She even made a note to reach out to Coca-Cola about the cost.  
To this very day, I think of her when I use one of those machines.

This story here, I can’t make this up if I tried. While in Miami, we ventured away from the beach into the city for an appointment I made for a consultations (of course you were there to support me) while walking I tripped on a lifted sidewalk and fell scraping my knee.  Not even 5 mins later you stepped down off a curb, fell and scraped the same exact knee (part of me wonders if you felt bad for me and didn’t want me to be alone, that’s the kind of heart you have) We brushed ourselves off and kept on our journey. We stopped in a store and you said “welp I got us the perfect snacks” Snicker knew us well…. You’re the Klutz to my Hot Mess and it was always perfect when you were around.

You were never a big drink, but you weren’t going to let me get freezer brain alone while we sipped down frozen cocktails from Wet Willy’s on South Beach

Our trip to Miami, we had to pay Versace’s Home a visit. We just loved our Fancy stuff, how could we not pay homage to Versace. Without a doubt you got your exquisite taste and love for shopping from Marie Luise

This photo was the day of my 1 year Anniversary for hosful. I was frantically trying to get things prepared and you show up out of nowhere with a box a customer made cookies with my logo on them. Top tier thoughtfulness!!

Attending at a Charity event for Dimitrious Stanley!  Frequenting these types of events was something you always did. The level of philanthropy in the Marx blood is unmatched. I remember when I started my nonprofit you gave me so much advice and shared so many resources because you truly had a passion for giving back.

All things we would say in response to a Courtney Marx story. Now, things we’re all saying in light of the news that some of us discovered a week ago

Flipping through pics with Courtney elicits so many memories, so many smiles, and so many laughs. If there was ever a definition of someone who was going to live life to the fullest and travel at every opportunity or make memories at ever chance, Courtney embodied it. 

I struggle to wrap my head around that just last September we were taking in a Buckeye road trip with Court in South Bend (complete with wild story!) or that my mom reminded me we just saw her a few short weeks ago in Grandview as she was out on a date. 

I’ll miss the cinco de mayo’s, I’ll miss the louder than life personality, and miss cheersing a Diet Coke. 

Make a memory in honor of a friend who specialized in making the most of every opportunity. 💕

Last September, tailgating  in South Bend for the OSU at Notre Dame game.

Courtney was a student at NAHS my 10th year of teaching. I didn’t have her in class, but got to know her just between classes; she knew just about everyone. Somehow, she started just greeting me with a shout of my
last name: “Weyls!” And so I started responding, or beating her to it, by shouting “Courtney!” And that continued throughout her HS years, and on to Facebook for birthdays. I will miss our greeting, and all the good, joy, and love she represented.

We only were able to see each other a few times a year. Most recently 2 weeks ago for dinner. That was postponed MANY TIMES, and I'm beyond grateful that we finally met up. I'm using this as a reminder to MAKE time and live in moment instead of putting things off.

Courtney went from a pain in butt "attendee" at my events, to an investor,  to someone who who cheared me on, did little things like Birthday present deliveries (EVEN WHEN TOLD NOT TO), to/and most importantly, a friend. 

She will be missed!

Being new to this community, Courtney instantly welcomed me in. She wasn’t pretentious. She was honest, open and inclusive of anyone she met. She lit up any room she was in. I only knew her a short time, but it was like we had this strange connection and so many shared interests. Whenever I would attend a NAWN event, if she was there, I would seek her out. She felt safe. She was easy to talk to and the usually the most fun person in the room.  Who didn’t want to be her friend? I was drawn to her. And let’s not forget to mention her style. Hello, girlfriend! You rocked those NAWN fashion shows. The fur, those shoes. You were bold and so confident in everything you did. Beautiful inside and out. 

I  remember you sharing stories about your family over a glass of wine. Holiday stories, travel and pranks - especially the corn on the lawn of your mom’s house. I went out and bought a bag of corn feed that night! 

Like everyone else, I’m stunned and at a loss for words. I just can’t believe this has happened.  No one can.  

Thinking of her beautiful time on earth that was cut too short, her loved family & friends and the legacy of her life. ‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.’ (Matthew 5:4) 🕊️💔

Courtney and I worked together for several years at Cardinal Health.  I loved seeing her get so passionate about her work and diving into process improvement head first.  She always had a can-do attitude and winning personality.  We shared a lot of loves - the Buckeyes, playing golf, all things dumb-funny, the lighter side of the workplace, and the Chicago Cubs.   We were both so excited when they won the World Series in 2016.  Not long after, Courtney was taking a trip to Chicago and asked if she could pick me up any memorabilia.  I mentioned maybe a nice piece of glassware.  Of course she got me a great glass which I’ve had in my kitchen cabinet since, never used of course, and I will cherish forever even more now.  My heart goes out to Mike, Marie Louise and Jeremy and I pray prayers of comfort for you all.  Courtney will be missed by so many!

This. What a special night. Happy 40th to you! 

It was a totally Awesome fun and fabulous 80’s celebration. You wanted a movie night. We made it happen.  We listened to 80’s music, ate yummy food and you brought wine coolers even though you didn’t  drink. 

We played Ferris Buellers Day off on a big screen and we laughed all night. Your parents came, too, and we all enjoyed meeting all of your favorite friends in one spot. It was the first time I think all of your friend worlds collided. You seemed very happy and loved. 

Planning for the party was fun with you,  I am so glad I got to host this special day for you!!

I loved how you always thought fondly of Carter and gave him special attention when he was around.  You always asked how he was doing and genuinely cared about him and what was happening in his life!

Gingerbread house Decorating.  

I remember you  would come to my house and  help me pre build the houses. We would laugh and have fun constructing our designs with graham crackers. You would poke silly fun at me for adding details like chimneys and windows. 

One time we made neighborhoods- we had New Albany mansions down to a manger design. 

I always had m+ms for you to decorate with and I would keep the coconut flakes separate because you were allergic. 

Possibly my favorite time we did this was over Covid and we had a very small group over. You stayed and played cards with Chris, me and Carter and then helped us break open a cinder block in the basement so we could reach Chris’s phone that he dropped into it during our basement remodel.  You thought that was hilarious that he did that! 

I’ll always remember you at future girls nights for gingerbread houses. You made this event extra fun and special  when you could help me with it over the years. I can hear you right now and can see you sitting  around the table telling stories and laughing with the ladies while you decorate. I loved your creativity and childlike spirit!

I love how confident you become on the runway. And that this event become one of your favorite events. 
You rocked the runway wearing that fur from Luxe Levels. You took a selfie on the runway in true Courtney style! You were so excited to wear your Air Jordan’s. I think they were new to your collection. 
One of the things I most appreciate about you is that You were my biggest cheerleader for  this event as I was co-chair again for this fundraising event. 

Not only because you were my friend but because it was benefiting Magical Moments Foundation - a charity that grants kids with facial differences an adventure to help inspire and encourage them to go after their dreams- and it was founded by my son’s cleft lip and palate surgeon, so it meant so much to me.  Because it meant a lot to me, it meant a lot to you. You made your friends’ families, your family. I have texts where you sent me encouraging messages telling me that I was rocking it as a leader. And where I needed you, you stepped up to help even though you led a busy life yourself.  

I wish I had pictures of us together that night. I was in crazy running around mode.  But I knew you were there and I knew if I called on you - you would run to my side. It was like that for life in general.  Thank you!

My heart is absolutely broken.  I am still not willing to believe this is true.  If I had known that the last time we spoke on the phone was the last time I would hear your voice and laugh uncontrollably, I would have never hung up the phone.  Courtney, you were the truest, most loyal of friends.  We joked we were going to be the Golden Girls one day, retired and living next to each other, since you weren't a big fan of roommates, ha!  From our first trip together to New Jersey and NYC in 1996 to our last trip together to NYC in 2017, I enjoyed every minute with you.  I was beyond sad when your family moved away before we could attend Loyola Academy together and remember how we would get in trouble because we would talk on our parents' landlines for hours on end.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always being there for me.  You brought so much light into my life and I could 1000% count on you to make any bad day better.  Thank you for being there for me when I got married and for waking me up in the middle of the night screaming, "You're getting married today."  Thank you for being there for me when Max was born despite the fact that he was born during the pandemic.  My heart breaks for your beautiful mom, your dad (my confirmation sponsor) and for Jeremy, my second little brother.  I will always cherish your family's hospitality whenever I would visit New Albany.   I will continue to sit by my phone waiting for you to return my call.  May you rest in peace with all the mac n cheese and diet coke you desire.  Thank you for being my friend.

I loved your love of fashion and  shoes and that we shared this in common. I know the fashion show was one of your favorite events, and I loved working with you on this fundraising event and modeling alongside you the past few years!

Kenleigh’s favorite memory of Aunt Courtney were all the times she would take her to Rusty Bucket and sit at the bar drinking endless chocolate milk and diet cokes. Kenleigh and Courtney shared a special bond and would talk frequently about everything. She loved her Aunt Courtney so much.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Courtney's sudden passing at such a young age. She was always a beacon of cheerfulness, radiating happiness and bringing joy to every gathering. Her untimely death serves as a stark reminder of the fleeting nature of life. My thoughts and prayers are with her parents and family as they navigate through this difficult time. May Courtney rest in peace.

Courtney introduced me to so many new friends. She had a way of networking that made everyone feel important. This picture was of a dinner She invited me to, it was when I first learned of her Diet Coke obsession, and we were discussing Pepsi vs Coca-Cola when the debate got heated...

Courtney came to many of my most cherished memories,  from My 21st birthday to my Graduation. She was always there. I believe after this we went and watched Abbott and Costello movies.

Courtney was such a power house. She always made me laugh, but knew when to get serious. I will miss her so very much.

Courtney was my oldest and closest friend; “my first friend I met in New Albany, when I moved in 8th grade”, she’d always say during an introduction. I remember hanging out at each others houses, running around the neighborhood and later when she got her first car, and we’d plan dinners at Red Robin or Steak n Shake, as Easton had just opened up. I remember dinners with her family. I distinctly remember hanging out of her Expedition one time to unscrew the antenna so she could get into the parking garage at Center City Mall. Oh how we laughed, I’ll always remember her laughing. 
As we got older, we moved away but kept in touch with texts and emails, making plans to meet in NYC or Vegas, or maybe something different next time.  We’re both planners and she loved planning an itinerary - food schedule first, get a good deal on the hotels, and let’s check out this cool random thing! 
We went to Nashville in 2021 and we did our usual: dinner out at a fun place, shopping at the mall, stayed up late and watched murder mystery documentary and freaked ourselves out….and then the biggest winter storm hit and our plans for the next two days were cancelled, including my flight home. She drove us back to Columbus in the storm. We were so scared and probably should have stopped; but she powered through, she was a warrior, stayed calm and focused. It took 9 hours. It was one of the rare times we didn’t have fun- but I know that because of her, we were safe and home. 
I wish I had more room to write; we all know how much energy and light Courtney had. She was generous with her time, energy and love, and she was smart, funny, and somehow both high-end and down-to-earth. There are reminders of her everywhere in my house. 
I am devastated, numb, and completely overwhelmed by her passing. To Jeremy, Mike, and Marie Luise, thank you for loving her so fiercely so she could love us in kind. 
And to Courtney, as Dolly said, “I will always love you”.  Xoxo, my dearest friend.

Visiting with VanToai family in DC area - she was always down for an adventure or a road trip and this was certainly a last minute “hey are you free to help?”, and she always was. We drove my little Matrix stuffed with a bed frame from Columbus to DC to drop off to my parents, and then had fun exploring for the weekend. She helped my parents find the remote to their fan and put together some furniture for them - she was always so easy and fun to be around.

She worked hard to get Leo to smile! She gifted him his first car, a baby Tesla, and he loves the horn and rolling around the living room. She also picked the Ikea crib we couldn’t find in metro Detroit or buy online - so of course, she was up to accepting it curbside and driving halfway to Detroit so we could meet for lunch and get the crib from her. It almost didn’t fit in the car, but she made it work, she always does! So random, but so Courtney!

I am so Sorry for the loss of Courtney.  I met Courtney though her ex-boyfriend, and instantaneously became friends. I would joke that if they every broke up I got Courtney in the “divorce”. Well they broke up and I got my amazing friend Courtney for the last 6 years. Courtney was always a blast to be around and was always down for anything (even grocery shopping if it meant we could hang out). Some of the best memories I have with her are calling her on the phone and saying what are you doing and planning to meet within the next 15 mins wherever we decided. Courtney was such an amazing spirit and a joy to be around. She will me missed so much and my heart mourns for you guys as her family during the difficult time. May her memory be a blessing and all of us take a page from the book of Courtney and spread joy and kindness like she did daily.

How can you express over 20 years of friendship, family and sisterhood? When I first met Courtney at the Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill for a Block O committee meeting I did not know what to think. She had a bigger than life personality and I honestly didn’t think we would get along. Thankfully that changed by the first home football game. We rocked the Tressel vests in Block O and spent EVERY Friday night and game day together my senior year. My first trips to Chicago and Las Vegas were driven by Courtney wanting to share two of her favorite places with me. There were endless weekend sleepovers, baseball games, movie nights and sushi dates over the years. When my girls came along there was no doubt that Courtney would soon become Crazy Aunt Courtney. She was the first person to attempt to babysit an infant Kenleigh… I say attempt because she didn’t make it the night. Kenleigh was stubborn and cried the entire time and Courtney exhausted all her options before calling me to come get her. Aunt Courtney always made it a point to take the girls for special birthday shopping trips to Build a Bear and Justice, drinking chocolate milk at the bar at Rusty Bucket and bringing home happy but exhausted kids. Christmas outings were their favorite and there was never a normal sleepover. Drive through lights in their matching unicorn pjs (yes even Aunt Courtney) all the candy at trunk or treats and cheering from the sidelines at the girls sporting events. Courtney wasn’t just there for my girls but she was ALWAYS there for me. There would be gaps in seeing each other but we would always pick up right where we left off. I know someday we will meet again and it will be as if no time has gone at all. I love you my sister and will remember you always.

Teagan's favorite memory of Aunt Courtney was their first solo birthday shopping day. She took her to Build a Bear where she made a rainbow angel bear. Aunt Courtney also came to all of Teagan's dance recitals and ice cream adventures after. Teagan will greatly miss her Crazy Aunt Courtney and all the adventures they went on.

I have been trying  to find the words  to reflect just how much I  am going to miss you and I  can't..... The words just don't  exist.   


 We met at NYOHs what seems like forever  ago( 2005...) I remember  at first  I  thought you hated me but eventually  our snarky sassy side comments had us bonding and laughing uncontrollably. 

 You always had a sharpie  handy and would re-mark the girls  who has washed their  Xs off their hands because they were  underage.  My friends and  I lovingly called you "The  Marker Nazi " and we would laugh as those same girls came back out of the bathroom and you would mark them again.  You would smile that big smile of yours and laugh as you did it too. 

-I will remember  every time  you  helped to pick me up after a dumb boy broke my heart. Since I was the oldest in my family you were my surrogate  older sibling and you helped me more than you  ever knew. 

  - I will always remeber the time you kidnapped me  and took my phone to keep me  from sending texts to one stupid boy in particular.

 - I think of you every Christmas  when I  decorate the tree and I see the glass Sax  Fifth Avenue  ornament  you gifted me.  Every year as I hang that ornament  then I automatically  think of the "girls night in" event at Sax Fifth Avenue that you took me too where you insisted  they do my hair and make-up since I hardly wore makeup and my hair lived in a ponytail  or messy bun (still mostly true).

- I will  always remember our random trips to the nail salon and getting margaritas  at Texas Roadhouse 

- I loved that no matter how long between  our chats we could  always pick up like no time had passed. 

I will miss you more than words can say and I am lucky that I  got to have you as a friend.

Seeing Courtney and her family over the Thanksgiving holiday was always a huge highlight! She was one of those people who contributed so much while she was here that she will be missed always, but she will live  in everybody’s hearts forever🌹🌹
