

Daniel R. Hooper passed away at his home in Gahanna, Ohio on July 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 5, 1948, the second child of John R. and Dorothy C. (Bricker) Hooper. Dan attended Bishop Ready high school and after graduation enlisted in the military. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, he served with honor in the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division, known as the Big Red One. After his service ended, he became a commercial electrician.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Janice (Jan) Hooper; his children, Amy (Jim) Hanley and Bryan (Jessica) Hooper; and his four beloved grandchildren, Aidan and Isla Hanley; Harper and Gavin Hooper. He is also survived by his siblings Joyce (Sam) Stowe, Teresa Hooper, Joan (Mark) Richards, and John (Jennifer) Hooper. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Laura, his parents, and his older brother, Michael Hooper.
A lifelong Ohioan, Dan was a passionate Ohio State football fan with over 30 years as a season ticket holder. His family will cherish memories of his cooking talents and especially his famous sticky buns. In quieter moments, he enjoyed a good glass of bourbon, savoring the simple pleasure of a well-earned pour.
Dan will be remembered for his bold attitude, strength, deep love for his family, and unwavering dedication to his country. His legacy lives on through those who knew and loved him.
Dan’s family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00 PM, Saturday July 19, 2025, at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 East Johnstown Road; Gahanna, OH. Burial will be held at 1:00 PM at Resurrection Cemetery.
