Della Duris

Della Yates Duris, 98, passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2025, in Blacklick, OH. Della was born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 6, 1926. She was a longtime resident of Blacklick, OH. Della was preceded in death by her parents Shelley and Matilda Yates, husband of 58 years, Joseph, along with sisters Rose Mears, Flo Wheeler, twin sister Nellie Wolfe, Christina McGatha, Nettie Miller, and brothers Earl, Henry, Walter, and John Yates. Della will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her sister, Mabel Brandt, children Judi Shortt, Terry (Jayme) Duris, Joe (Gayle) Duris Jr., Janet (Lew) Griffin, and Tammy Duris. Della was “Nana” to seven grandchildren: Roger (Julie) Shortt; Kelly Goode; Carla Duris (Todd Schusterman); Emily Duris (John Snyder); Courtney (Ian) Stickles; Kyle Duris; Ross Duris; Seven great grandchildren: Collin, Crew, Kayleigh and Kylin Shortt, Morgan, Tatum and Quaid Goode; Seven step great grandchildren: Griffin Paré; Grady, Dempsey and Henry Bush; Trent, Max and Roman Griffin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Della’s name to G.R.I.N. Gahanna Residents in Need, PO Box 307563, Gahanna, OH 43230.
