

Dr. Dimitri Teague, M.D., 68, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, at the James Cancer Hospital of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center after a 20-year battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
Dimitri Teague was born on January 6, 1954, in Tacoma, Washington and grew up in Compton, California. He graduated from Brown University in 1976, where he met his wife of 43 years, Dr. Delois Teague. Together, they graduated from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine in 1980, and Dimitri completed his General Surgery residency and Clinical Fellowship in Nutritional Support in 1986 and 1987, respectively. Dimitri has been a beloved member of the Columbus and Greater Ohio communities since 1990.
Dr. Teague practiced as an ER physician from 1987 to 2003 and held the role of Medical Director over the course of his career at Galion Community Hospital Emergency Department and Berger Hospital. After leaving emergency medicine for health reasons, he became a medical consultation for the Ohio Bureau of Disability and the United States Military Entrance Processing Command, and most recently provided consulting services for the State of Ohio Attorney General.
Dr. Teague was a member of the National Medical Association, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Ohio State Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. In past years, he has served as a member of the National Alumni School Programs for Brown University and contributed to the International People-to-People Healthcare Exchange. Additionally, he served as a Board Member for Columbus Montessori Schools and the Oriental Martial Arts College. He has also been published in the Journal of Surgical Research.
Dimitri was an avid tennis player, winning several titles throughout the years, including the annual New Albany Country Club Member-Guest Doubles Tournament. He earned his 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo and was passionate about Eastern culture and medicine. Later in life, he also enjoyed coaching the Whitehall High School Boys and Girls Tennis Teams.
Dimitri deeply loved his family and friends. He was a humble and free spirit who enjoyed exploring new places, salsa dancing, playing the piano, traveling to tennis tournaments, and vacations in Jamaica. He embodied what it means to live each day to the fullest and has left a lasting impression on everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
Dr. Dimitri Teague is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd R. (Truus) Teague and his brother Darren L. (Lindee) Teague. He is survived by his mother Patricia A. Teague; brothers Cornell (Yvonne) Teague, Dion P. (Lynette) Teague, and Stephen K. (Laurie) Teague, sister Gillian (Dwyane) Hedgepeth; daughter Gianna (Meaghan) McCusker-Teague; son Canyon (Emily) Teague; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, Ohio 43230 on Friday, August 12, 2022 beginning at 4pm. Visitation will follow the service from 5pm-7pm.
