Reverend Donald E. “Nick” Nicodemus, age 90, of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, surrounded by his beloved wife, family, and friends after a long battle with dementia.
Born on September 7, in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, Nick was the son of John Chalmer and Louise Barnhill Nicodemus. Nick is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 27 years, Paz Baldonaza Nicodemus; his sister, Lois Wolf of Dunkinsville, Pennsylvania; daughters LuAnn Kaucic of Anchorage, Alaska, Lisa Lyons of Springfield, Missouri, Lora Jacoby, Beth Kerntke, and Amy Nicodemus of Plymouth, Wisconsin; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nick graduated from Patton Military Academy in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, where he excelled both academically and athletically, graduating at the top of his class. A proud Korean War veteran, he served in the United States Army as a security code breaker and sharpshooter, stationed on Aleutian Island in Adak, Alaska.
Following his military service, Nick pursued his passion for construction, becoming the owner of Willington Homes, Inc., where he built numerous single-family homes. His greatest passion, however, was his deep faith and his calling to share the Word of God with those around him. As a devoted minister, teacher, and author his love for biblical teachings were shared through the Post Scripts From Scripts, The Anchor Bible Ministries, and The Independent Charter. Outside of ministry and work, Nick enjoyed time with his builder friends on golf trips to Myrtle Beach, the Kings North Course in South Carolina, and Florida. He was proud of achieving two holes-in-one and was known for his precision and dedication both on the golf course and in life.
A celebration of Nick’s life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio, 43230. Burial of his ashes will follow at Mifflin Cemetery, located at Route 62 and Ridenour Road in Gahanna. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward at Nick and Paz’s home to share memories and fellowship.
Please make contributions made in Nick’s memory to National Church Residences (Hospice), 2245 North Bank Drive, Columbus, Ohio, 43220.
Nick will be remembered as a man of faith, discipline, and love—devoted to God, family, and service to others. His legacy of strength, teaching, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
