Born September 7, 1948, in Delphos, OH, to Rolland and Carla (Judkins) Weaver, who proceeded him in death. Doug attended Delphos Jefferson High School, and THE Ohio State University.
Doug is survived by his family who miss him dearly: his loving wife of 29 years, Mary Jo (Pishitelli) Weaver; daughters Lydia (Indra) Kumaran of Portland, OR; and Kate Taylor of Delaware, OH. He also leaves brother Craig (Kathy) Weaver of Cottonwood, CA, and sister Denise (Mike) Matson of Findlay, OH. Doug worshipped his three grandchildren: Mallory and Max Taylor, and Hope Kumaran. Doug will be sorely missed by his favorite puppies Tucker and Beau. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends also mourn his loss.
When Doug was younger, he enjoyed playing all sports. In High School he was the Wildcats' quarterback, forward, and pitcher. Doug participated in the Columbus Marathon a remarkable four times!
Later, he participated in recreational softball, basketball, and soccer. He served as his daughters' soccer coach when they were younger. Doug also enjoyed golf, traveling, watching war movies, and THE Ohio State Buckeyes (but wouldn't watch them play on TV).
Doug was very proud to have served his country as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army. He is preceded in death by his K9 officer "King".
Doug was a big guy with a big laugh. He did not know a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. To know Doug was to love Doug, and he let the people he loved know it. Doug was always ready to share a laugh, a bonfire, a cigar, or a smooth bourbon. He will leave a void in all our hearts.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Schoedinger Funeral Home Northeast in Gahanna, OH. Visitation is from 2-4 PM, Service begins at 4 PM followed by Military Ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to The American Heart Association in Doug's name.
