Born February 5, 1935, Dwight was the son of Harold and Harriet Hedrick. He graduated from University High School (1952), Capital University (1956), and the Trinity Lutheran Seminary (1960).
During his 40-year ministry, Dwight faithfully served as a pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in Beavercreek, Ohio, and Peace Lutheran Church in Gahanna, Ohio. He also served as an Assistant to the Bishop of the Southern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
A gifted tenor, Dwight sang in the Capital University Chapel Choir, the Seminary Chorus, and many church choirs throughout his life.
Beyond his ministry, Dwight had a passion for antique cars and enjoyed traveling in restored classics, including his beloved 1928 Hupmobile Roadster. His enthusiasm for collecting began early—at just five years old, he started amassing license plates and eventually assembled a collection featuring Ohio plates from every year since 1906. He also had a deep appreciation for Sohio petroliana.
In 1957, Dwight married the love of his life, Marilyn Mittermaier, and together they treasured 67 wonderful years.
He is survived by Marilyn and their cherished family, children Beth (Bruce) Milligan, David (Kathy) Hedrick, and Christa (Todd) Mann; grandchildren: Michaela (Alex Ray) Milligan, Mason Milligan, Holyn Hedrick, Will Hedrick, and Anna Hedrick, Jacob (Jordan) Waddell, Heather Mann, Carl Mann, and Faith Mann; and great-grandchildren: Arya Waddell, Ila Waddell.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Louise, Eudora, and Allison.
