

Everett Lloyd Murch, 87, passed away on December 25, 2022 in Westerville, Ohio. Ev (Rett) was born on June 10, 1935 in Springfield, Vermont. He earned his undergraduate degree in Journalism and Psychology at Syracuse University and a Master of Science degree in Journalism at Northwestern University. He served in the US Navy, utilizing his degree as a public relations specialist. After the Navy, Ev began his career as a feature writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer and eventually moved to New York City where he worked in Public Affairs for General Electric Company. It was here that he met his former wife, Ann Conlon Murch. His GE career took him to Boston and eventually Columbus, Ohio where he worked in Government Relations, retiring in 1997. Among his many retirement gifts was a private party in the GE suite at Fenway Park to watch his beloved Red Sox play.
Ev was preceded in death by his parents Harold Murch and Cleone Lloyd Murch of Vermont. He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 41 years; children Robert Murch (Natalie), Richard Murch (Janet), Amy Murch and Kevin Murch (Elizabeth); stepchildren Kimberly Minor (Donna McDonald), Bill Minor (Lisa) and David Minor (Lisa); nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Rod Murch (Chris); sister Elaine Shants (Frank) and numerous nieces and a nephew.
After retiring, Ev and Carol spent their winters in Ft. Myers, Florida, enjoying golf, tennis, travel and Red Sox spring training games. Ev also wrote a weekly senior humor column for the local newspaper. He and Carol enjoyed summers at their cottage in Maine.
“I have fought long and hard for my Lord and through it all, I have kept true to Him. And now the time has come for me to stop fighting and to rest.” (2 Timothy 4:7). Rest well beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. You will be sorely missed.
A celebration of life is planned for Friday, January 6, 2023 11:00 a.m. at Broad Street Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43205. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Broad Street Presbyterian Church at www.BSPC.church/donate.
