

George Z. Koranyi, 88, passed away on May 31, 2022. He was born in 1934 in Budapest, Hungary. He was a university engineering student when the 1956 revolution against the Communist regime erupted in Budapest. After the uprising was lost, George escaped to Austria and from there to the United States. He arrived as a refugee to New York City on New Year's Eve in 1956. He studied Mathematics at the University of Notre Dame and The Ohio State University. In 1972 he married the love of his life Katalin in Columbus. Together they had two children, Andrea Minto (Bruce) and Brian Koranyi (Jessica). He was also blessed with two grandchildren, Flynn and Sylvia. George was predeceased by his parents Zoltan and Julia and by his beloved pets, Beigey, Baby, Cinnamon and India. The family wishes to extend thanks to the OhioHealth Hospice. Special thanks to his nurse Tiwana and aide Shawona for their compassionate care.
Donations in George's memory can be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital, Infectious Disease Section, or OhioHealth Hospice.
The family will receive guests on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 5pm-6pm at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna 43230. George's memorial service will follow at 6pm.
