Sweet, sassy, and everything in between, the beloved Jeanne Louise Marquard passed away peacefully on December 3rd, 2025. Born to Lawrence and Helen Culver on June 21st, 1945 in Akron, OH she was the second of three children. She earned a nursing diploma from St. John’s hospital in Cleveland, OH and a nursing degree from the Ohio State University. It was at OSU that she found herself living with the crew of 202 King Avenue, a roommate experience that set her up with a group of life-long friends. She practiced nursing for numerous years with her favorite position being in the Obstetrics ward. In 1971, she married James “Fuzzy” Marquard and settled in Columbus, OH. Her marriage lasted until 1997 with Fuzzy’s passing. That union brought along four children; Anne Marie Marquard (John Leach), James Thomas Marquard, Kathleen McDowell (Mike), and Jane Ellen Dell (Sean). Jeanne was a mother and a homemaker. During these years, she enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her Bridge Club. Although, her kids don’t recall cards being played when the Bridge Ladies came over, just a house full of M&Ms and ice cream pies. After her children were off to college, Jeanne was still a mother, this time to several friends that were brought home for Sunday dinners and happily took her up on an offer to do laundry. Jeanne was also a world traveler, visiting destinations including Canada, Venezuela, China, Costa Rica, St. Croix, the Bahamas, and Japan. She also lovingly doted upon her one grandchild, Sophie Dell. She was creative, supportive, and always down for a good time, especially if it involved the beach. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sister, Rita Remmy (Gerald). She is survived by her brother, David Culver (Jeanne), sisters in law Rosemary Victory (Bill), Maureen Legan (Bob), her four children, and one grandchild.
A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held Saturday, January 17th from 11am to 2pm at The Barn (5451 Edwards Farms Rd, Columbus, OH 43221).
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Jeanne’s memory to Breakthrough T1D (breakthrought1d.org) or the Arbor Day Foundation (arborday.org).
