It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Joe (Joseph Carmel)

DeLuca, of Columbus, Ohio. Joe passed away peacefully in his home on August 5th,

A celebration in honor of Joe's life will be announced at a later date. At that time, his friends,

family and colleagues will be welcome to join. His care was provided by Schoedinger Margarum

Funeral Home www.schoendinger.com.

Joe absolutely loved his family. He was most excited about sharing with his wife, Kathy

(Kathleen Synsik), preparations for the upcoming birth of their first grandchild. Nieve Carmen

Ann, who was born August 8th, to their cherished daughter Kristina Allison and son-in-law

Christopher Sahadath of Whitby, Ontario, Canada. She will be raised with a healthy appreciation

for baseball and tales of her grandfather’s adventures by family, friends, and loved ones.

He earned his Master's Degree (B.A.) from Kent State University, Kent,Ohio. Joe then assumed

the role of Campus Director for National College. He was instrumental in successfully

establishing the college's presence in North East Columbus, Ohio. After Joe's retirement, he

developed a passion for Pickleball, which only enhanced the joy and gratitude he felt, sharing

his life with Kathy. Theirs was a very special love story.

Joe had a special love for his brothers, Charles "Tony" (Kristen) De Luca of Granville, OH and

their daughter Meredith; Stephen “Steve” (Colleen) De Luca of Hardyville, VA, and their children,

Daniel, Laura (Patti) and their son Otto; Jason (Wendy) De Luca of Mineral Ridge, OH and their

son, Michael.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Lee (Pauley) DeLuca, his father

Nunziato DeLuca, and step-mother Teresa DeLuca. He is survived by many aunts, uncles

and cousins.
