He was the beloved husband, of Jean Sucec for 38 years; dear son of the late Joe Sucec, Sr & Wanda Sucec; dear father to his son, Jason Sucec, and his daughter, Shannon (Joe) Stahl; grandfather to Lainey and Whitney; brother to Jefferey Sucec (Bernadette), who was his best friend, who he loved beyond words.
He was raised in Miller, Indiana, family then moved to Portage, Indiana. He went to Wirt High School and earned a degree from Indiana University.
He started his career in General Construction, during the summers, then moving into the field of Construction Management as Project Manager (Tishman), then Project Manager with Gilbane, and promoted to Project Executive, building predominantly, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and other very large-scale projects, like the O'Hare International Airport, Homeland Security, and many other projects. For Joseph, his work was much more than a job, it was a huge part of his life and what he loved doing so much. He was outstanding at what he did, and highly respected in the field. He gained a reputation of "fixing" projects too that were in trouble, and was often sought after, to come and turn them around.
Joseph's extra time, when not working or doing things around the house, was golfing! His favorite times were on the golf course with his brother, and enjoying most, their annual golf trips to Florida when they could. He had other days, he would golf with a few guys, and always liked coming home, telling his wife, how well he played, or how bad. His other favorite activity was watching all Notre Dame football games on TV, while talking to his brother or Dad during commercials.
Joseph liked the simple things, and spent most of his days after retiring, being at home with his wife, and past Golden Retriever. He loved building things around the house, working outside, and always fixing things as needed. He was a quiet man, never judged others, and always was so positive, and strong, when times were tough or a challenge. He was a wonderful husband, kind, caring, loving, & patient, showing his wife such unconditional love and care.
He will be deeply missed by many, and his legacy will live on through the lives of those he touched.
