Lori earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Eastern Michigan University, receiving Cum Laude honors. After her graduation, Lori worked as a hair stylist and as a special needs assistant. In 2017, she became a member of the Human Rights Campaign.
During her free time, Lori loved to read, listen to music, exercise, spend time in her garden, enjoy some fine wines (both reds and whites), and connect with her family and friends. She also had a soft spot for dogs, most especially Golden Retrievers. Lori enjoyed many wonderful family vacations across the country from coast to coast, including a trip to Maui.
Lori was a strong and compassionate person – she had battled Type 1 Diabetes since age 10, managing it better than anyone we knew. She always fought for the people she cared about, worked towards achieving equality, and loved all people.
She will be remembered for being one of the best cooks, for her warm smile, her sense of humor and joyful laugh, for her honesty and strong moral compass, for kindness, generosity, and for the care and love she gave to all she knew. She was beautiful, inside and out, and will be deeply missed. Those close to her will remember her fondly as a loving wife, mother, “dog mom,” and friend to many, and will forever treasure the memories they were fortunate to share.
“Those whose memories fade seek to carve them in their hearts.”
Lori is survived by her loving husband, Robert Thorne; son Egan Thorne; sister Beverly Quidort (Phil); brother-in-law John McIntyre; nephew Ian McIntyre, and her beloved Golden Retriever, Wesley.
At this time, no formal services have been scheduled.
