

Born on February 11, 1941, he was the son of the late Lawrence A. and Louise C. Boone of Hickory, Pennsylvania. Following graduation from Hickory H.S., he attended Grove City College, receiving a B.A. degree. He then attended the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary where he earned a Masters of Divinity degree.
Reverend Boone was ordained to the ministry of the Presbyterian Church USA on June 15, 1966. He went on to pastor congregations in the former Panama Canal Zone, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, including the First Presbyterian Church of Grove City, Ohio. Reverend Boone participated in the church beyond the local congregation, serving on committees of the Synod and Presbytery.
In retirement, he volunteered at the Broad Street Presbyterian Church’s food pantry and at the Ohio History Center where he served as a First Person Interpreter. Reverend Boone’s love of sports led to his avocation of officiating high school football games.
Reverend Boone was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Dot) I. Boone, and son, David M. Boone. He is survived by daughter Betsy I. Nguyen (Uy) of Westerville, grandchildren Ashley and Reese Nguyen; brother Dr. George Boone of Hummels Wharf, PA; sister Sarah Larson of Erie, PA; brothers-in-law Reverend Gary Larson and Johnston Glass; sisters-in-law Carol Boone, Aileen Glass, and Mary Glass. There are also six nieces and nephews.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at the Broad Street Presbyterian Church, Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, January 25. The calling hours will be from 10:00 to 11:45 am, with the Service at 12:00 noon. There will be a reception following the service.
His remains will rest in the Northlawn Memory Gardens, Westerville, awaiting the return of Christ and the resurrection to eternal life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Broad Street Church food pantry or the Ohio History Connection.
