Raymond Matthew Gruber

Raymond Matthew Gruber, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024. Raymond was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania on September 5th, 1937 to Matthew and Mary Gruber. He retired from Transworld Airlines after over 40 years of hard work. Raymond was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, farming, and most of all sharing his love of baseball and the Pittsburg Steelers with his children and grandchildren.

Raymond was always the first to jump in and help a person in need, he would even plow his neighbor’s driveways every winter and never expected anything in return. His kindness was not just limited to people of course, Raymond loved animals and even extended his care to the deer that wandered onto his property, making sure they always had something to eat. Raymond was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of meeting him.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 65 years, Julia Gruber; his daughters, Julie (Randy) Smith and Shari (Dana) Eidens; Grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Yoder, Matthew (Sabrina) Smith, Timothy (Sydney) Eidens and Thomas (Allison) Eidens, and many Great-Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Matthew Gruber Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for all memorial donations to be made to local animal shelters in Raymond’s honor.
