

Bert lived a life full of love, magic, and adventure. An avid quilter, she found joy in stitching together memories and warmth for those she loved. A true Disney enthusiast, she carried a sense of wonder and magic wherever she went and was always planning her next trip to the castle. Whether embarking on family adventures and quilt retreats or simply sharing laughter at home for game night, Bert cherished every moment spent with those closest to her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mark S. Ward; her son, Robert S. Ward; her daughter, Dr. Molly C. Ward; son-in-law, Matthew Gilmore; and cherished grandson, Miles. She will also be deeply missed by her brother, Tom (Carol) Walden; sister, Kay (Dave) Moore; brother-in-law, Terry (Bonnie) Ward; sisters-in-law, Jo (Stanley) Manos and Missy Ward; as well as her many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews which she held close to her heart.
Bert’s heart and home were always open, and she was blessed with friends who became family. She is also survived by Jason (Ashley) Hollern and their children, Grace and Josephine; Kelli (Steve) Hamilton and their children, Georgia, Charlie, and Grady; and Megan Hollern. Her quilting buddies, Sue Buck and Linda Green, and long-time friend, Larry Rumsey, held a special place in her life, sharing in her passions and creating lasting memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert O. and Alma G. (Johns) Walden, her in-laws, Theron and Melanie Ward, and best friend Karen Hollern.
Visitation will take place on Monday, March 17, from 4pm-7pm at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230. A brief visitation will be held the following morning, March 18, at the funeral home from 10am-11am, with Bert's funeral service immediately following at 11am. Services will conclude with interment at Mifflin Cemetery.
Bert’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will forever be remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Central Ohio at the Wexner Medical Center.
Bert’s legacy lives on in the love she shared, the friendships she nurtured, and the beautiful stitches she left in the fabric of all our lives.
