Saundra Mae (née Paul) O’Donovan was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 4, 1937, and left our world to meet the Lord on April 28, 2026, at the age of 88. She left in her own way, passing peacefully in her sleep.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, William C. Sr., in 1992, and her brother, John N. Paul of Atlanta, Georgia, in 2025.
Saundra raised seven boys and is survived by them all: Terrence Sr. (Ellen), Timothy, William Jr., Patrick (Peggy), Thomas, Dennis (Barbara), and Kevin. She was also Grandma to nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews will also miss their Aunt Sandy.
Born in Pittsburgh, Saundra’s early work was as a confidential stenographer for the FBI’s Pittsburgh office. Later, the family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she spent almost 50 years and formed lifelong friendships. In 2019, she relocated to Columbus, Ohio, to be closer to family.
She never lost her love of baseball and her cherished Cincinnati Reds. In between games and the off-season, she passed time reading, favoring fiction and the latest biographies. Her library account shows 206 books read just since moving to Columbus.
There, she formed new friendships, dishing with fellow residents at StoryPoint Gahanna North over dinner, always open to a foursome for bridge. She loved playing bingo and her weekly Rummikub games, where there will now be an empty chair at the table.
Visitation will be from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Schoedinger Margarum, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin Granville Road, New Albany, Ohio 43054.
