Scott Lee Deemer Jr., known to most as “Scottie,” passed away surrounded by family on June 4, 2025, at The James, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. Scottie was born on June 30, 1989, at St. Anne’s Medical Center in Columbus to Scott and Lynne Deemer. He was a graduate of Whitehall-Yearling High School.
Scottie was an avid fisherman who found peace in the tranquility of the water and fishing banks. He was also a dedicated gamer who found immense joy in exploring virtual worlds and sharing his passion with others. He was a loyal friend who loved with his entire being. Scottie’s greatest devotion in life was protecting his sister, Amber. Their bond—strengthened through trials and tribulations—created a unique and everlasting relationship.
He had a genuine love for all living creatures and found immense comfort and companionship in his fur niece, Ruby, and his three cats—Little, Oscar, and Felix. Scottie had a strong work ethic that many admired. His quiet strength, thoughtful wisdom, and beautiful spirit—grounded in a deep and abiding faith—will be remembered by those who knew and loved him best.
Scottie is survived by his sister and best friend, Amber Deemer; Aunt Mary (Terry) Lamb; Uncle Jim (Lisa) Knox; and Cindy Deemer, along with cousins and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lynne Deemer; father, Scott Deemer; grandparents, Norma and Arnold “Ziff” Fuller; and cousin, Thomas Knox.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Ohio State University Hospital for their compassionate care and unwavering support during Scottie’s fight.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Amber’s Pelotonia ride. All proceeds in her name will support cancer research in honor of both Lynne and Scottie.
