Sonya Christine Peck Matalon, 66, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025. Born on September 6, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, to Sandra and Ronald Peck, Sonya was a proud graduate of Gahanna High School’s Class of 1977. A loving mother, grandmother (Gigi), and friend, Sonya was known for her unwavering generosity, deep love for her family, and more times than not she was 100% right.
Sonya is survived by her devoted husband, Eli Matalon; her children, Michael Brown (Megan), Joseph Matalon (Ashley), and Marsha Goings; and her cherished grandchildren, Payton Brown, Michael Brown, Mason Brown, and EJ Matalon. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cameron Brown; her parents, Sandra and Ronald Peck; her twin sister, Tonya Peck Gardner; and her brother, Ron Peck.
Sonya’s greatest joys included cheering for Buckeye football, crafting extravagant hats for the Kentucky Derby and her children and grandchildren. She adored her Bernese Mountain Dogs, Sonny Boy and Sydney, and found immense happiness in spending time with her family and friends.
“I hope people do not miss Sonya, but people cherish the many memories they share with her. I hope they find peace knowing she is reunited with her mother Sandra, her twin sister Tonya, her brother Ron, & her beloved daughter Cameron. She loved them more than life itself.”
Family and friends may gather for a Memorial Service on Wednesday, January 08, 2025, beginning at 2PM at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Sonya's twin sister, Tonya and mother, Sandra.
In honor of Sonya, her family asks that you cherish the memories you share with your loved ones, just as she did.
