

Stacy Ann James of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the age of 64. Born in Columbus, on November 24th 1959, she is the daughter of the late Alfred Samuel and Marjorie Rowena (Jackson) Waibel. She worked at Mt. Carmel West, National City (PNC) Bank, and did child care.
Throughout her life, Stacy enjoyed art, plants, cooking, the beach, football, and animal rescue. She was a Christian and enjoyed being involved in church…Evangel Temple Gahanna where she was raised, and Monticello Presbyterian Church during her 16 years in Georgia. After returning to Columbus Ohio health issues prevented her from attending church, but she maintained her daily devotions. Over the years Stacy dealt with many health issues such as type 1 diabetes, heart problems and blood cancer, but despite these issues, Stacy persevered. She was blessed to receive a kidney/pancreas transplant that prolonged her life for many years. Stacy was a big Ohio State fan. She will be remembered by her love for the Lord, her love of sports, and her love of dogs.
Stacy is survived by her daughter Christina Waibel, and her sisters: Susanna (Christopher) Huhn and Sandra (Gregg) Flokstra. She is also survived by nephews and nieces: Joshua (Katie) Gretz, Erin (Julian) Williams, Christopher (Bethany) Flokstra, Laura (Alex) Thayer, Jessica Strubhar, Elizabeth, Abigail, Nathan, and Tabitha Flokstra. And she is survived by great nephews and nieces: Caleb, Elijah, and Isaiah Gretz, Caitrin, Cedric, and Winston Flokstra, Justin Flokstra, Emiline and Allison Strubhar, and Adrian and Phyllis Thayer.
Stacy’s family will be holding a Celebration of Life in the near future, we will get the details out to family and friends when they are finalized. If you feel led, a donation to the American Diabetes Association or the American Society of Transplantation in Stacy’s name would be a good way to remember her.
