

Steven T. Black of New Albany, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly from heart failure on February 14, 2024. He was born on October 4, 1968, in Akron, Ohio to Janet A. Michello of New York and John Thomas Black of North Carolina.
Steven moved to New Albany with his wife of nearly three decades, Kelly Marksz Black, where they raised their family. He was devoted and proud of his daughters Zoey and Quinn, both students at The Ohio State University. In addition to his wife and daughters, Steven is survived by his parents, his sister Pamela Eliasson, his brother-in-law Donald Eliasson and nieces Dianna and Ava Eliasson, his aunt and uncle Bridget and Arthur Morris, his aunt Brenda Beck, his uncle William Black, and numerous cousins and friends.
Steven demonstrated his artistic talent at an early age through drawing and painting and later his love of music. Steven played one of his many bass guitars nearly every day. He loved playing so much that he owned over two dozen. Steven loved swimming in the ocean at the New Jersey shore where he enjoyed summer vacations with his New York family. He recently made plans to visit Paris and Italy, his maternal ancestral home, with his mother, wife, daughters, sister, and nieces. Steven obtained his bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees at the University of Akron. He also started coursework for a Ph.D. Steven was employed at the Ohio State University Medical Research Center as a web developer and data analyst for cancer research. His organ donations demonstrated his devotion to helping others. The family was comforted in knowing that a part of Steven was enhancing or saving the lives of others.
Steven was a devoted son, grandson, husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and loyal friend. He was a kind and loving soul fond of nature, animals, and making others laugh. His love of life will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Calling hours will take place, 2/23/2024, 4:00-7:00 PM, at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, Ohio 43230. A memorial mass will take place at 11:00 AM, on 2/24/2024, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 5101 Johnstown Rd., New Albany, Ohio 43054.
