Wayne Ward Stertzer

Wayne was born on March 10, 1939 to Louis and Anna (Ward) Stertzer at St. Ann’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away on November 2, 2023, at St. Ann’s Hospital, in Westerville, Ohio at the age of 84.

Wayne worked for several beauty supply houses for 49 years. He also worked for Columbus Fair Auto Auction for 15 years. He finally retired at the age of 83. He was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gahanna, Ohio, for 54 years. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Council 5801, and earned his Fourth Degree. He ushered at 5:00pm Mass for 50 years and was a Eucharistic Minister for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna (Ward) Stertzer; brother Fred Stertzer; son Gary Lee Stertzer; and daughter Susa Marie Barkaloo.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Kasey (Kathleen) Stertzer; daughter Louann Elkins; son John W. Stertzer, Sr. (Cynthia); daughter Mary (Randy) Oswalt; older sister Nancy Jordan; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Wayne will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230, with a Rosary being held at 6:15pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the church on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, beginning at 10:30am. Services will conclude with interment at Jefferson Cemetery, 870 Reynoldsburg - New Albany Rd, Blacklick, OH 43004.
