William (Bill) Henry Carter Jr., a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on October 3, 1943, in Columbus, he was the beloved son of the late Madeline Mathews and William Henry Carter Sr., and was preceded in death by his dear brother, Donald Carter and his wife Beverly Ross.
Bill was a proud graduate of Grove City High School and went on to build a dedicated and dependable career in the skilled trades. He retired from Mid-Ohio Heating & Cooling, where he was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and quiet professionalism.
A long-standing and faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Bill found deep joy in service and fellowship. He was especially devoted to the church’s Men’s Group and the Saturday morning breakfast ministry, where his presence, wisdom, and gentle spirit were treasured. His faith was lived humbly—through action, compassion, and consistency.
Bill loved life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed traveling, watching football, and was a devoted fan of his beloved Cleveland Browns. More than anything, he loved caring for others. He was passionate about feeding the homeless and offering help wherever it was needed, never seeking recognition for his generosity.
Those who knew Bill will remember him as a wonderful brother, loyal friend, and steady father figure. He was quietly intelligent, thoughtful, and generous with his knowledge, always willing to share a word of guidance with those who would listen. His kindness, easy-going nature, and supportive presence put people at ease and made them feel valued and seen.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Florence Carter; his niece, Donna Marie Veel; and a blended family that includes his stepdaughters, Florence (Kay) King, Jacqueline (Jackie) King, and Cheryl King, from a previous relationship, with whom he shared mutual adoration and love and his sister-in-law Theresa Young.
Family and friends will receive visitors on Saturday, January 3, at 11:00 a.m., with services immediately following at 12:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230. Additional fellowship arrangements will be announced.
William (Bill) Henry Carter Jr. will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored for the quiet strength, compassion, and grace with which he lived his life.
