
Betty was born October 21, 1926, in Hagerstown, Maryland. She served in the United States Air Force and then served as a draftsman for the US Geological Survey. She was a member of Mount Olive First Baptist Church. She was a quilter and a member of the Mt. Olive Quilter's Guild.
Betty loved to crochet and donate her work to neonatal units in the Birmingham area. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and kept them on their toes with her quick wit.
Betty met Charles McGill, Jr. (C.C.) while in the Air Force and was married to him for over 50 years before he predeceased her.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Dunn (Johnny), grandsons Ian Dunn (Lindsay) and Colby Dunn, and great-grandchildren Nixson, Lily, and Amelia Dunn. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Services will be held Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, Alabama, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. A private burial to follow at
Mount Olive Cemetery in Mount Olive, Alabama.
