Betty McMurray Sargent, age 78 of Gardendale, AL passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John T. “JT” Sargent; her parents, Burtis and Gertie McMurray; brother, Carl McMurray; sisters, Clara Locklidge and Ruby Nail McLeroy. She is survived by her loving family, sons, John Sargent (Brenda), Barry Sargent (Bobbi), and Steve Sargent (Tina); her grandchildren, Adam Sargent, Blake Sargent (Alysia), and Madison Sargent; great granddaughter, Sophie Sargent; sisters, Kathleen Mitchell and Shelby Henson; sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Ware and Wilda Hawkins; and brother-in-law, Bennie Lane. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She was a long time member of the Calcedonia Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 6th, at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 6 until 8 pm with funeral services Friday, December 7th at 11 am. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Cemetery in Corner. Rev. Danny Miller will officiate the service.
