Bob Eugene Kendrick

Bob Eugene Kendrick, born on March 20, 1931, in Illinois, passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 94. Residing in Gardendale, Alabama, Bob was known for his adventurous spirit and was a beloved, compassionate, and devoted individual. He was faithful, generous, hard-working, thoughtful, and wise.

His greatest joy was his faith in Christ. He loved the Lord deeply and lived that love through serving others. Bob was a deacon for 58 years at Central Baptist Church and worked at Acipico for 38 years. He was an avid Cubs fan and a dedicated Alabama football fan. Above all, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, having been married for 70 years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Billie Sue Jacks Kendrick; his daughter, Judy Kendrick Painter, and her husband Terry; and his son, Kenneth Kendrick, and his wife Rhonda. He leaves behind seven grandchildren: Kristi Boyd and her husband Marc, Lauren Gipson and her husband Dusty, Allen Painter and his wife Kerri, Erica Kendrick, Ryan Kendrick and his wife Dale, Preston Kendrick and his wife Jada, and Austin Kendrick and his wife Lexi. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren: Jacob Chaffin, Hailey Chaffin, Cooper Boyd, Logan Gipson, Dylan Gipson, Molly Gipson, Kaelyn Painter, Bryce Painter, Chaney Painter, Lincoln Painter, Kaiden Kendrick, Brenleigh Kendrick, and Mirabelle Needham; a sister, Joyce Kendrick Culpepper, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bertha Kendrick; brothers, William Donald Kendrick, Weldon Kendrick, James Ellington Kendrick; sisters, Jeanette Kendricks Gates, Sarah Margrett Kendrick and a great-grandson, Brody Boyd.

Visitation will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, located at 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, on December 29, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 11:00 am. A committal service will take place at the Oakwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Gardendale, AL following the service.
