Charlotte Nelson

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, William F. “Sonny” Nelson; her parents, Richard and Mildred Horton; as well as her brother, Houston Horton, and sister, Bebe Broadhead.

Charlotte is survived by her son, Christopher Shaun Nelson (Keeli) of Gardendale, and grandchildren Emma Nelson, Carter Nelson, Olivia Nelson, and Seth Nelson.

Charlotte was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved and adored her four grandchildren. She was a member of Fultondale First Baptist Church. She retired from BellSouth after giving more than 30 years of dedicated service, forming many lifelong friendships throughout her career.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to all the nurses and caregivers at Covenant Place, Oaks on Parkwood, St. Vincent’s, UAB Medical West, and Compassus for their compassionate care during Charlotte’s illness.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with Bro. Mika Marcum officiating. Interment will follow at Walkers Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
