Clyde Minyard

Clyde T. Minyard, age 79 of Blount County, AL (Selfville) passed away on Tuesday, December 26th, 2017. Mr. Minyard worked most of his life in the grocery business as a butcher. After retirement he opened a hot dog stand and enjoyed operating it and making customers his friends. He served his country proudly as a veteran of the Alabama National Guard. He and his wife Frances “Sadie”, were members of Westside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Alta V. Minyard; and siblings, Alford Minyard, Alvin Minyard, Ruben Minyard, and Lewis Minyard. Mr. Minyard is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Frances “Sadie” Minyard; three children, Chuck Minyard (Cathy), Darrell Minyard (Pam), and his daughter, Lynn Updike (Mike); six grandchildren, Aaron Minyard (Virginia), Katie Kilgore (Bryan), Meagan Minyard, Steven Minyard, Nicki Cleghorn, and Marissa Minyard; three great grandchildren, Harper Kilgore, Hadley Kilgore, and Hayden Kilgore; a brother, Leland Minyard (Linda); and his sister, Charlotte Adams; a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was very much loved and will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 29th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 5 until 8 PM followed by services on Saturday, December 30th beginning at 11 AM. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
