Darlene Brazeel Neely passed away on March 26, 2024. She was a remarkable woman who lived a life full of passion and purpose. Born on August 28, 1953, to the late Mr. Thomas Gregory Brazeel and Mrs. Charlene Martin Brazeel, Darlene was a devoted service representative at BellSouth for many years before retiring to become a fulltime Mimi to her grandsons.
Darlene was a creative soul who enjoyed needlepoint and cooking. She loved trying new recipes and sharing them with her family and friends. Her passion for food extended to wine tasting, where she enjoyed learning about the best pairing of wines with her favorite foods. She was also active in the Boy Scouts community, where she sold popcorn and supervised campouts for Troop 413. Darlene's love for the outdoors was evident in the memories she created with her grandsons Elijah and Ethan.
In her later years, Darlene became a member of the Red Hat Society - Bama Bodacious Belles and a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 255 and served as Sgt at Arms. Her dedication to her family was evident through her passion for genealogy where she attended classes, traveled to cemeteries to document grave sites and researched her family’s history and created bound copies to share with family and loved ones.
She is preceded in passing by her loving husband, Oscar Perry Neely; her son, Joel Phillip Neely; her parents, Thomas Gregory Brazeel and Charlene Martin Brazeel; her sister Patricia Brazeel Lewis; and her brother Thomas G. Brazeel, Jr.
Although Darlene's passing is a great loss, her memory will be cherished by her dear grandsons Elijah Neely and Ethan Neely, her brother Charles "Skip" Brazeel, her sister Becky Brazeel, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives.
The celebration of Darlene's life is scheduled for Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the American Legion Post 255 Fultondale.
