Donny is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Hudson Thomason; sisters Brenda Killian and Donna Powers (Greg), sisters-in-law Teresa Anglin (Troy) and Tina Jones; niece Tashia Benefield (Paul), nephews Micah Jones, Andrew Jones, Ethan Powers, Adam Powers (Jacie) ; great-niece Kyrie Benefield and great-nephew Riggins Powers.
Donny was preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Dorothy Thomason; father-in-law Jimmy D. Hudson and mother-in-law Mary Jo Hudson; brother Lonnie Thomason; brothers-in-law Phil Killian and Randy Jones; niece Meredith Powers.
To Honor Donny's wishes, the family has requested the services be private due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Serving as pallbearers are Paul Benefield, Andrew Jones, Micah Jones, Greg Powers, Adam Powers and Ethan Powers.
Donny will be missed by his family and friends. “His last breath here was his first breath in Heaven.”
He was 8 years old when he received the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior on July 16, 1962 at Fairmont Missionary Baptist Church. As a minister of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, He was called to preach God’s Word on July 16, 1972. He was ordained at Fairmont Missionary Baptist Church on July 8, 1973. Donny married Sheila Hudson on July 28, 1975.
From the beginning as a Bi-vocational minister, he served faithfully at BE&K/KBR Engineering for 38 years as a Mechanical Designer. He was known as “The Preacher” by his Co-Workers.
He was an inspiration to others after his two strokes in 2013 by his accomplishment of receiving his DOCTOR OF MINISTRIES degree on May 16, 2015 from the Theological Seminary Bible College and Institute.
He served in numerous churches as Pastor and Interim Pastor. His Passion was to point others to Christ, encourage Pastors, and help churches be planted, revived, or renewed in LOVE through Evangelism and the SEARCH THE WORD radio ministry. He always ended all of his Radio broadcast with……..
