

Mrs. Lawrence was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 11, 1929, and God called her to her eternal home on October 15, 2022. She graduated from Woodlawn High School and married Joseph Monroe Lawrence Sr. in 1947.
Evonne volunteered and was active in Children's and Youth work for many years at Norwood Methodist Church, Forestdale United Methodist Church, and was a member at Crumly Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and member of the Women’s Covenant Group. She became an American Red Cross Volunteer and volunteered at Children’s Hospital of Alabama after she retired from the Neurosurgery Department of The University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center.
Evonne was a member of many local Order of the Eastern Star (OES) chapters during her 50+ years with OES. She served as Worthy Grand Matron of Alabama Grand Chapter in 1986-1987. She also served in General Grand Chapter in 1995-1997 and 2000-2003.
Evonne was pre-deceased by Joseph Monroe Lawrence Sr., her husband of 66 years; mother, Clara Morgan Duggan; father, Harris D. Duggan; four brothers; Lytelle H. Duggan, Olene T. Duggan, Orville Duggan, Kenneth Duggan; her eldest son Joseph M. Lawrence Jr (Isabel); one very special friend, Claudia K. Brooks of Chesapeake, Virginia.
Evonne is survived by her children, James D. Lawrence Sr. (Maureen), Huntsville; Joan L. Teer, Birmingham; Janis D. Lawrence, Auburn; John M. Lawrence Sr. (Judy), Waxhaw, NC. Grandchildren, Joseph M. Lawrence III (Peg), Birmingham; Christopher Lawrence (Patricia), Charlotte, NC; Jeffrey S. Lawrence (Cheyenne), Birmingham; James D. Lawrence Jr, Huntsville; Jana M. Lawrence, Huntsville; Brianna Teer, Kimberly; Michael Teer (Blair), Greenville, SC; Jenifer Tomasello, Destin, FL; Richard Tomasello (Crystal), Auburn; Deana Tomasello, Tampa, FL; Jaclyn L. Hogan (Brian) of Hillsboro, OR; John M. Lawrence Jr. (Ashton), Charlotte, NC. She also has a total of 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 2:30 PM with Reverend Lynn Dimon officiating. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 to 2:30 PM at the Chapel. There will be a graveside service by Order of the Eastern Star at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Mausoleum Chapel. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers with Honorary Pallbearer, Richard Duggan. Members of her Eastern Star Chapters and her Starlighters will also service as Honorary Pallbearers.
