

Frances Adell Grogan passed away on June 12, 2024, in Gardendale, Alabama. She was born on March 2, 1933, to Virgil Walter and Laura Burkett Kinney. She is preceded in death by her late husband Millard David Roberson, her son David Alan Roberson, her parents, her sister Doris Kinney Wilcox, and her former husband George Burgin Grogan.
Frances attended Graymont Grammar School in her early years and graduated from Ensley High School in 1951. After raising her children, she worked at South Central Bell and retired after 28 years from AT&T. She was a member of West End Church of Christ, and more recently attended Gardendale First Baptist Church.
Frances loved to travel, whether it was a leisurely car drive through Alabama towns, a week at the beach with friends, or an occasional vacation to favorite places nationally or internationally. In between trips, she enjoyed playing cards with friends, attending concerts and theatre plays, and hosting family in her home.
Frances is survived by her daughter Sandy Roberson Davis (Allen) and her son Gary Grogan (Sue), her five grandchildren, Chris Davis (Jeanie), Andy Davis (Heather), Joseph Grogan (Haley), Jacob Grogan (Kelly), Andrea Grogan, and her great grandson Ryan Davis.
Her family will welcome visitors at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Sunday, June 16, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at 3:30 pm.
Frances’ family is so grateful for the caregivers from ACG Hospice and especially to the caregiving staff at Covenant Woods in Gardendale who have cared for her and loved her while Covenant was her home.
