Georgia Box Murray has gone to be with the Lord at the age of 72. She was a lifelong resident of the Birmingham area and was a social worker, who devoted her life’s work to helping abused children. She held a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama. Georgia was a long time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gardendale.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Wesley Murray; her son, Dale Murray (Annamaria); her daughter, Shannon Murray Tillman (Scott); and four grandchildren, Molly (7), Will (6), Zach (5), and Catie (3).
Services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 16th at 2:00pm. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Her burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
