Glenda M Akers

Glenda Mae McElvana Akers, age 91, passed away Saturday, May 9th 2020. A Lifelong resident of Gardendale, Alabama. She loved and was an active member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. Her biggest joy was family. She loved cooking for and taking care of them and attending all of the church, school, and sports activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her sweet spirit will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Blanche McElvana; husband, Jimmy Fountain; husband, John R. AKERS, Jr.; great granddaughter, Katie Burkett; three sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Burkett (James); son, Randy Akers (Patricia); granddaughter, Sissy Headley (Donny); grandsons, Mike Burkett (Shelley) and Jonathan Akers; great grandchildren, Josh Headley (Rachel), Andrew Burkett, Jackson Burkett, Eden Burkett; great-great grandchildren, Stella Ray Headley and Avery Reid Headley.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, Alabama with the Rev. George Weeks officiating.

The family wishes to thank all of her wonderful, caring care givers that we grew to love and consider family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Katie Burkett Memorial Scholarship at Regions Bank or to Gardendale First Baptist Church.
