Rev. McCants of Gardendale passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 92. He is now with our Lord whom he faithfully served through a lifelong ministry as a minister of the Nazarene Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rentz and Martha McCants and his first wife Edna Merle McCants. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carolyn S. McCants, a son, Rentz McCants (Janet); step-children, James M. McConnell (Cindy), Tommie K. Painter and Brenda Kimbrough (Terry); brother, Franklin McCants (Bernice), grandchildren, John Turk McCants, Melissa McCants Shehee, Renee M. Gray, Steven Tucker, Kellie Painter, Lisa Burgerner, Tammy Sewell, Tom McConnell, Trent McConnell, Robert Thomas McCants and Rentz McCants III; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Saturday, March 29th, 2014 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm with a funeral service at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
