

James G. Boatright of Gardendale, AL was born in Cullman County and passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the age of 94. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. He dearly loved his wife and family and always put their needs before his own. He worked well up to 80 years of age to provide for his family. He loved collecting Case knives and had to always be working on a project, never standing still. Mr. Boatright proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Philippines. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 70 years, Nadine Reid Boatright whom he married on October 4, 1947. They were residents of Gardendale for more than 65 years and attended Gardendale’s First Baptist Church. He is also survived by his son, Donald Boatright (Sharon) and a daughter, Kay Gough (Tom); Grandchildren, Brandi Shalaghn Smith (Kevin), Ashley Kizzire (Brent), Harrison Gough, Kayla Gough, and Kaitlyn Herrera (Omar); Great Grandchildren, Austin Blankenship, Lily Kizzire, Cage Kizzire, and Anne Catherine Kizzire. Mr. Boatright was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow Boatright; and sisters, Rachel Lee, Wynell Boatright, and Thelma Grace Starnes. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, June 26th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 5 to 8 pm followed by chapel services on Wednesday beginning at 11 am. Burial will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL with U.S. Army Honors.
