Jay D. Morgan

February 4, 1961 - October 5, 2016

Jay Downey Morgan, of Gardendale, Alabama passed away Wednesday at the age of 55. Jay grew up in Graysville, AL., attended West Birmingham Christian School and graduated from Darlington School in 1979. He graduated from Marion Institute in 2000 and The University of Montevallo with a degree in Business Administration in 2003. Jay was loved by so many friends, and never met a stranger. He will not only be remembered as a caring individual with a heart of gold, but also for his endearing sense of humor and quick wit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Morgan M.D., Ann Downey Morgan, and his wife Susan's son, Zach Thomas.

He is survived by his loving wife Susan McCullar Morgan, uncle, Frank J. Morgan, Jr. M.D., siblings James Thomas Morgan Jr. (Vickie), Janet Lee Morgan Garrison (David) and Ann Morgan Cruit. Nieces and nephews, Justin White (Aubrey), Joby White (Kacey), Krista Lutz (Stephen), Morgan Cruit and 7 great nieces and nephews. Jay was very close to Susan's children Brett and Jennifer Thomas, as well as his Haddybug who called him her Jay Jay. Most importantly, is his faithful companion and love of his life, his dog, Maggie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. Special thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Vincent's Birmingham, and especially Chaplain Tim Mayhall. Fly High, Our Jaybird!!!

Memorial services will be held Friday, October 7th at 7:00 PM. at Johns Ridout's, Gardendale, AL. where the family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM. He will be buried beside his father at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, MS., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2 PM.
