John Benjamin (Ben) Baker passed away September 4, 2013 at UAB Hospital. He was born September 25, 1931 in Birmingham, AL. He retired from the US Air Force after 22 years of service and enjoyed spending time with family, wood working and golf. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
Ben was preceded in death by his former wife, Joyce Jones Baker; his parents Harvey and Dorothy Baker; a brother Bobby Baker; and sister Louise Baker Ray.
Ben is survived by his wife, Janice C. Baker; daughter, Linda C. Speegle; stepson from his former marriage, Ed Harmon; stepsons from present marriage: Alan Carter, Roman Carter and Landon Carter; brothers, Johnny Baker and Harvey Judson Baker; and grandchildren, Jay Harmon, Valerie Snow, Tracy Simmons, Meagan Carter, Logan Carter, Chase Carter and Evelyn Carter.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 7th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel in Gardendale, AL. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until service time at 12 Noon.
