John is survived by his wife, Cheryl Hassell; son John (Angie) Hassell III; daughter Dawn Sarah Turner; and daughter Lexi (Tristian) Tims; mother-in-law Dorothy Miller; sister Gladys Dolan, sister DeeDee (Stuart) Johnson, sister Sister Phyllis (James) Miller, sister Sister Joanna (James) Corona brother Frank (Angela) Hassell, brother Scott Hassell, brother Frankie Hogan and sister-in-law Deborah (Craig) Leo; granddaughter Crystal (Nick) Horsley, granddaughter Stacy (LaWayne) Nunnelley, great grandson Tristen Nunnelley, great grandson Tyler Horsley and great granddaughter Beona Nunnelley.

John was preceded in death by; mother Dorothy Hassell and father John Hassell Sr.; brother Douglas Hassell; sister Carolyn Geissler; and brother-in-law Jerry Hoy.
