
Born February 22, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama. Joe graduated from Phillps High School in 1954. At the age of 19, he joined the Air Force where he played the following base sports: football, baseball, basketball and fast pitch soft ball. He traveled all over the United States from the Atlantic to the Pacific representing his base. When he left the service, he started a 28 year career at ACIPCO. After he retired from ACIPCO, he worked for 22 years at the Alabama State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama. When not working, Joe enjoyed spending time with family, playing golf, cards and hunting.
Joe is survived by his wife of 19 years, Ginny Donaldson. His children Mark (Liz) Donaldson of Fultondale, Jodi (Bryan) Kincey of Gulf Shores and step children Randy (Connie) Thomas of Birmingham and Ginger (Rob) Carlon of Greenville, South Carolina. There are 12 Grandchildren: Dillon (Toni), Joey, Matt, Kaleb and Blake Donaldson. Tyler, Bryana and Beth Kincey. Amelie and Eva Thomas. Will and Samantha Carlon. Two great Grandchildren Jake and John Riley Donaldson. He was preceded in death by the following: His parents, Nettie Kesterson and William Mayne Donaldson. Joe had 8 siblings: 6 brothers Harold, William, James, Clifford, Charles, and Larry Donaldson and 2 sisters Frances Donaldson and Betty Hood. His wife of 41 years, Linda Haigler Donaldson and son Jimmy Donaldson. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 9th at 2pm at Rideout Gardendale Chapel in Gardendale, Alabama. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
