Sonny Dodd, age 70, of Mount Olive, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 5th, 2024. Born on December 20th, 1953, he was the only son and youngest child of Milford Erskine and Clairene Eleanor Dodd. Sonny was a graduate of Gardendale High School, class of 1972. Sonny worked as a welder for many years until his retirement.
Sonny cherished his family above all else. He loved animals, fishing, music, and spending time with his loved ones. Sonny could light up any room with his presence. It was almost impossible to be in a bad mood when Sonny was around. He loved to laugh and share his laughter with others. He brought much joy to a great many people. Sonny had a natural talent for making people smile, and he always knew how to make someone feel special. Sonny never met a stranger; he was a kind, caring, gentle, and fun-loving person to his core. He will be greatly missed by his family, and by the many people who loved him.
He is reunited in death with his mother and father, Erskine & Clairene Dodd, his eldest sister, Suzette Barnett (Dodd), and his grand-nephew, Caleb Young.
Sonny is survived by his sister, Yvonne Young (Dodd); brother-in-law, John (Suzette) Barnett; nieces and nephews, James (Amy) Mayfield, Robin (Tracey) Mayfield, Kelly (Billie) Young,Christopher (Vicki) Ramey, Katie (Rome) Bova, and Patrick (Jessica) Barnett; grand-nieces, Haley (Curtis) Shultz, Lindley (Christopher) Seagle, Sydney Mayfield, and Delilah Barnett; and grand-nephews, Parker Ramey, Jacob Mayfield, Taylor Ramey, and Tucker Mayfield.
