Muriel Y. Douglas

Muriel Ruth Young Douglas, age 83 of Morris, AL passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. Muriel retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education where she taught as a Special Education Aide at the Burkett Center for the Multi Handicapped for over 14 years. She was a longtime member of Kimberly First Baptist Church. Muriel was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Paul M. Douglas; two sons, Kevin Douglas and Keith Douglas; one grandson and her great granddaughter. She is survived by her children, Ruth Anne Turberville, Patrice Goodwin, Nancy Smith, Patrick Douglas, Robert Douglas, and Sarah Douglas; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; her sister, Phoebe Hendrix of San Antonio, TX; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 6 until 8 PM followed by chapel services on Saturday beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Warrior, AL. Services will be officiated by Bro. Clint Davison and Bro. Gary Creel.
