

who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the age of 88. Born August 31, 1936, Norma Jean was the youngest daughter of Bob and Jesse Allie Clay (predeceased).
She worked as a secretary for 25 years at Southern Natural Gas Co. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling with family and friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Norma Jean was a Christian who loved the Lord Jesus and was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Arlie Cook, and her sister, Sue Pitts. She is survived by two daughters: Judy (David) Geer and Lisa (Tim) Willingham; six grandchildren: Daniel Willingham, Lindsey (Grayson) Dove, Clay (Lindsey Kratzer) Willingham, Meghan (Cory) Gardner, Katie (Andy Blackwell) Geer, and Jordan (Jeneé) Willingham; five great-grandchildren: Reyghan Gardner, Evri Dove, Riley Gardner, Gwen Willingham, and Owen Blackwell; a sister: Gerry (Carlyle) Apple; a cousin: Jim Smith; close in-laws: Nancy Cook and Jim and Joan Cook; and several nieces and a nephew.
Visitation will be held October 28, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Fireside Room Ridout Funeral Home Gardendale. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, in Gardendale, Alabama. Dr. Hunter Cummings officiating.
