

Richard E. McFalls was born November 21, 1948 in Akron, Ohio and passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Jennings McFalls and Thelma Schaefer McFalls. Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Terry Creel McFalls; sons: Cliff (Kelli) and Lee (Dacia); granddaughters: Taylor and Savannah; brother, Dennis (Maryanne); sister, Paula (Tim); niece and nephews: Matt, Jody, Michael, William and Bobby. Richard served his country proudly in the U. S. Army as a young man and later found his calling as a perfusionist. He found this profession to be challenging and rewarding and it brought him great satisfaction as well as countless friendships that endured the remaining years of his life. He was very proud to be the first perfusionist at Carraway Methodist Medical Center where he worked from 1979 – 2006 and co-founded Southern Perfusion Services. Richard was an avid hunter who traveled widely and contributed his talent, enthusiasm and endless ideas as a member of Safari Club International. Richard made fast friends with people from all walks of life and will be dearly missed. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital of Alabama.
