Robert "Bobby" H. Thompson

Robert was known as a hard worker at home and at Western Steel where he was a Supervisor until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Glennwood Baptist Church and was a Mason of Hewitt Lodge #519. Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. If he wasn’t gardening or tending to his chickens, you could find him spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling his great grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria Jean Thompson; his parents, Willie B. and Mavis Thompson; his brother, Jack Fowler; and his sisters, Kathryn Sox and Nell Wise.

He is survived by his two sons; Mike Thompson and Toni Herrera-Bast and Tim and Traci Thompson; his grandchildren; Austin and Staci Thompson, Ashley and Tom Sutton, Drew Thompson, Caleb Thompson, and Anna Grace Thompson; his great grandchildren; Braden, Kinsleigh, Bradley, and Kendall Thompson, Sam Sutton, and Baylor Thompson; his sisters, Marie and Ronald Hook and Joan McGuirt; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Celebration of Robert’s Life beginning at 12:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Glennwood Baptist Cemetery in Morris, Alabama.
