Roy Driver Jr.

Roy Wayne Driver, Jr. age 71 of Mt. Olive, Alabama passed away on May 2, 2020. Roy was born on March 21, 1949 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the Reverend Roy Wayne Driver, Sr. and Mary Driver. Roy attended Coffee High School and upon graduation Roy studied at Jefferson State for two years. Upon leaving Jefferson State Roy enlisted in the Army National Guard. While Roy was in the guard he went to work for the Birmingham Transit Authority until 1985. After leaving the authority he had a couple of jobs before going to work for 25 years at Staples where he retired in 2019. Roy met the love of his life Linda S. Fogel and they were married on June 7, 1975 at Walker's Chapel United Methodist Church. They were married for 45 years. Roy was a dedicated father to his three wonderful kids; son, Michael P Driver; daughter Amanda L. Mealer (Scott) and son, Roy Wayne Driver, III. Roy and his family worshipped and belonged to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gardendale, AL where Roy was a dedicated lay minister. Roy loved his church and church family dearly. Roy also loved going to the lake on weekends and his two Shih Tzu's Ally and Arly. Roy is preceded in death by his parents the Rev. Roy and Mary Driver; brother Ronnie Driver; and mother in laws, Lola Delashmit and June Fogel. Due to the Covid - 19 Roy's family will have a private service. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2456 Decatur Hwy., Gardendale, AL 35071 in Roy Driver's memory.
