McCormick, Shirley Alcorn, age 84 was called home on Friday, March 23, 2012. She was a member of North Gardendale Church of Christ and retired from Mt. Olive Elementary School after 34 years as a teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents: Fred Alcorn and Jessie Bartlett Alcorn; brothers: Joe Allen and Robert Alcorn; sisters: Mildred Brown and Jean Burrum and daughter-in-law, Karen McCormick. Survivors include her sons: Bill and Jim (Debbie) McCormick; grandchildren: Johnnie McCormick, Kimberly (Scott) Roberts and Justin McCormick; great grandchild, Hudson James Roberts; sisters: Mary (Randolph) Clifford, Sue (Arnold) Schnabel and a host of family and friends. Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel.
