Thomas Edgar McCray

Thomas Edgar McCray, age 83 was born in Greensboro, AL July 31, 1934 and went to be with our Lord on Monday, February 19, 2018. Mr. McCray resided in Gardendale for over 45 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was retired as Head Surveyor with Southern Natural Gas with over 35 years of service. Mr. McCray was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Claire Richard McCray; parents, Rufus Edgar McCray and Mary Lucille McCray; and a brother, Charles McCray. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Speir (John); granddaughters, Denise Scoggins (Jason), Pamela Speir; and his great granddaughters, Julianna Claire and Mary Eloise; and his beloved dachshund and “best friend”, Dawn.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23rd at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 1 until 2 PM followed by graveside services in Oakwood Memorial Gardens at 2 PM with U.S. Navy Honors. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your local Humane Society.
