Travis J McAlpin

Travis James McAlpin, age 47 of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023. Travis was born to Terry and Ruby McAlpin on January 3, 1976 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was an outdoorsman in every aspect from hunting, fishing, metal detecting, gold mining, any trip to the beach, and collecting rare coins. He loved cheering on The University of Alabama Football, the Atlanta Braves, and any baseball team he coached that Trevor played on. He retired from Thomas Plumbing after 25 years and continued in the maintenance department of UAB – Kirklin Clinic. Travis was known as “Smiley” because he always had a smile on his face and he was the life of the party no matter where he was. He would help you in any way that he could, especially for his family and friends. Travis was an outstanding husband and amazing dad.

Travis is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Louise McAlpin; and his sister, Sandra McAlpin Glass. He leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years, Angie McAlpin; his son, Trevor McAlpin; his dad, Terry McAlpin; his sister and brother in law, Amanda and Casey Wood; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:30 pm with burial to immediately follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
