CAMPBELL, WALLACE ONEIL of Mt. Olive, Al was born April 12, 1945. He left his earthly home and joined his Savior and loving wife in Heaven on May 4, 2020. He began his career in the U.S. Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was well known for his calling and civic duty to the City of Gardendale as a patrol officer in 1970. He worked his way up through the rankings to Chief of Police in 1992 and retired in 2007 after 37 years of service. He was a graduate from the FBI National Academy, Session 125 on June 12, 1981. He was a member of the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a former President of the Jefferson County Police Chiefs Association.
Most importantly, he was a devoted husband to his wife, Terri Jo of 22 years, the oldest and wisest (he would say) brother of ten, and a loving father and grandfather. He and Terri moved to Cullman after his retirement to enjoy the well-deserved relaxed lake life, that mirrored his personality. He spent every day of his retirement overlooking the tranquility of Lake Catoma. Wallace enjoyed numerous gatherings at his lake house with his children and grandchildren, watching them make life long memories. Wallace loved spending his weekends on the golf course with his infamous “golfing buddies” and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide every Saturday.
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents: EJ and Ruby Campbell; devoted wife of 22 years, Terri Jo; Brothers, James Earl, Larry Wayne and Brother in Law, Steve Belcher. He is survived by his children: Traci (Alex) Padfield, Tammy (Paul) Contorno, Meredith Webb and Wayne Campbell, his many grandchildren: Logan (Megan) Beane, Conner (Brianne) Beane, Ashton Carpri, Trentan Barlow, Ethan Barlow, Isabella Barlow, Peyton Glass, Bryson Campbell, Lucas and Luci Webb and Great-Grandchildren: Ian Beane, Maci Beane, and Brinley Beane.
